Committee involvement in Young Professionals is open to all paid TCYP participants. Serving in TCYP leadership is a powerful way to reach out and engage with fellow YPs while contributing to the growth and success of the program.

Committee Member

Committee membership is a one-year volunteer commitment involving a minimum of one (1) hour-long meeting per month. Ideal committee members will have some type of personal or professional skills/interest in the focus area of the committee, and be committed to being actively involved in the planning and implementation of the committee’s programs and projects. The Membership Committee helps Young Professionals get involved in the organization, recruits new members and develops member products. Current/past projects include creating YP-branded apparel and YP discount cards and building relationships with YP partners and sponsors.

The Chamber Young Professionals program recently formed the community and state involvement committee (CSIC) to “To view local government committee and board openings as well as elected public office opportunities, important dates and filing deadlines, and a network of young professionals that will assist and support YPs in this region who are interested in serving, please visit our resource page.

Campaign volunteer opportunities:

Volunteering to help with a campaign is a great way to get involved and can be a lot of fun! As opportunities become available we will post them each week.

Howard Walker - Michigan Senate candidate for District 37, serving Grand Traverse, Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Chippewa and Mackinac counties.
 
Mr. Walker is looking for volunteers to organize events, prepare mailings, handle RSVP’s and scheduling, as well as provide database and web support. Other opportunities will become available as the campaign continues. Mr. Walker is also looking for a campaign manager. The campaign manager is a paid position. Lunch & Learn at Black Star Farms

The Development Committee oversees the creation of programs and events that contribute to our members’ development as individuals, business professionals and community leaders. Current/past projects include the Lunch & Learn series, a YP leadership program, business seminars and professional development events, and a YP mentorship program.

Social Committee





TCYP Tall Ship Sail

The Social Committee oversees the creation of all programs and events related to social engagement and recreational activity in Young Professionals. Current/past projects include the Undercover Night Out series, the YP Tall Ship Sail, YP Superbowl Party, and programs/events that help connect new members to the group and build positive social relationships within Young Professionals.

Volunteer Outing at Habitat For Humanity

The Volunteer Committee oversees all programs and events related to volunteerism and charitable involvement in the Young Professionals program. Current/past projects include monthly volunteer shifts at the State Theatre, community volunteer outings, non-perishable food drives at the YP Lunch & Learn events, partnerships with community non-profit and volunteer organizations, and projects that add charitable/volunteer components to existing YP programs and events.
