Traverse Bay EDC Annual Meeting Held

The Traverse Bay EDC Annual Meeting was held Thursday, March 20 at the NMC Hagerty Center Great Lakes Campus. The program featured the project successes from 2007, and Bob Marcusse from the Kansas City Area Development Council spoke on the workings of a sucessfull economic development strategy.

Huron County Wind Energy Tour

This one-day event includes transportation to Huron County from Traverse City and Cadillac!

While on the trip, we will review the most current sample zoning on wind generation and the state's recommended guidelines. We will also review current university-based research on Michigan wind generation. The tour will culminate with a visit to the Huron County Wind Farm.

Economic Development Legislative Update

Brownfield Tax Credit
Provides a review of the provisions under the State Business Tax Act that provides for a brownfield redevelopment tax credit.

Downtown Development Fund
Provides for definition of downtown area community and housing development fund.

Sales Tax Credit for Films
Revises the section of the General Sales Tax Law that relates to agreements entered into between the State Film Office and a motion picture company that provides a sales tax credit for meeting specified requirements.

Film Incentives
Provides for strategic fund incentives for film production industry; creates the State Film Office and Fund; provides the Office shall be the successor to any authority, powers, duties, function or responsibilities of the State Film Office of the History, Arts and Libraries Act; provides for powers and duties; provides for membership and appointment; creates the State Film Promotion Fund within the State Treasury.

 


AT&T Supports Improved Technology for Nonprofit Organizations Across Michigan

AT&T Inc. on Friday announced support for nonprofit organizations around the state, including Traverse City. AT&T's contributions will support Michigan communities by providing nonprofit organizations with improved technology.
