Broadband Project Moving Forward in Our Area
You Can Learn More First-Hand: Merit Network and its partners were awarded a federal funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to build 1,270 miles of fiber-optic infrastructure in Northern Lower and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
What does this mean? Higher speed Internet access, including speeds up to 10 Gigabytes per second. The data capacity of the fiber is limited only by the speed of light! It is also possible to upgrade to 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps. What does that mean? Your business can communicate and transfer files faster than before. This also adds another attractive aspect of our area to companies considering relocating. (Perhaps film companies now looking to set up shop in Michigan?)
Merit is hosting a public meeting and would like you to be there to get updated, educated, and learn how you can take advantage of this new infrastructure. The meeting is planned for Wednesday, September 8 at 4 p.m. at NMC’s Hagerty Center. You can view more information on this project by clicking here.
