Applications Now Being Accepted for 2009-10 Class

The Chamber established the Leadership Grand Traverse Program in 1986 with the firm conviction that today's leadership has an obligation to nurture tomorrow's leaders. LGT brings together new, emerging and existing leaders from the area to address pertinent community needs, strengthen individual leadership abilities and encourage participants to personally commit to assuming new leadership roles in the community.

The application deadline for the 2009-10 Leadership Grand Traverse class has passed.  Applications for the 2010-11 class will be accepted from May 1 to July 31, 2010. To download an application, click here.

2008-09 Class Projects

The 2008-09 class, which graduated in May 2009, is currently engaged in four important class projects that give back to the communities they live and work in:

• "Get Entrepreneuring" - Aimed at encouraging young entrepreneurs in our region who have a passion for starting and growing their own business, but can't afford start-up costs or finance the risk of their new venture. Click here to watch a short video on this project.
  
• "United Way of Northwest Michigan Business VIP Program" - A high-potential program designed to create a long-range plan for providing sustainable volunteers, funding and utilization by participating businesses. Click here for a Powerpoint and short video on this project.
  
• "Kalkaska Downtown Development & Marketing Plan" - The LGT class is one of many community groups working on a Kalkaska Downtown Development & Marketing plan to help revitalize and market the area. Click here for a Powerpoint and short video on this project.
• "Implementation Plan for Chamber's Energy Policy Task Force Recommendations" - The LGT work group assigned to this project will help develop an action plan to implement the Chamber's Energy Policy Task Force recommendations on how the Chamber can be a change agent on energy.
