About Young Professionals
The Young Professionals program was created by the Chamber to empower and activate young professionals in the Grand Traverse region by providing a dynamic environment for networking and social and professional development. The program has four primary objectives:
- Create a network of young professionals
- Provide regularly scheduled events
- Provide development opportunities for young professionals
- Provide network and connection to community and volunteer opportunities
Young Professionals held its official kick-off event on March 26, 2008 at Wilderness Crossing.
Upcoming Events
Young Professionals meets the first and second Tuesday of every month.
- Tuesday, May 13 - "Lunch & Learn: Getting Involved - How To Volunteer In Your Community"
Time: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Location: State Theatre
Cost: FREE
Speakers: Deb Lake (Festival Director, Traverse City Film Festival) and Linda Barry (House Manager, State Theatre)
Description: There's perhaps no better example of the power of volunteerism than the success of the Traverse City Film Festival and State Theatre. Run entirely by volunteers (and one paid employee), the film festival has averaged over 70,000 admissions each year, while the State continues to land in the top 5 per-screen averages in the country each weekend (alongside New York and L.A.!). Deb Lake and Linda Barry will discuss the importance of volunteering in your community, as well as specific ways to get involved at TCFF and the State. Young Professionals Co-Chairs Bryan Taggart and Chris Jonkhoff will also provide details on how members can get involved in our Young Professionals Volunteer Committee.
As a special treat, enjoy a free lunch and a rare screening of "Roaming Through Michigan," a 1949 MGM travelogue short highlighting Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes and other Northern Michigan attractions. Space is limited, so click here to register today!
This event made possible by:
- Tuesday, June 3 - "Undercover Night Out" - Join us for a casual night of cocktails and conversation from 5-8 p.m. Location TBD.
