Your Chamber's Traverse Bay EDC invites you to attend their Annual Meeting. Doug Rothwell, President and CEO of Business Leaders for Michigan, will be on-hand to offer the keynote presentation. In 2009, the EDC assisted companies with the creation or retention of 818 jobs and secured over $78 million in public and private investments for development activity in the region. Attend this meeting to find out how the EDC could possibly help your business. There is no cost to attend thanks to the event sponsors - Consumers Energy, First Community Bank and Skilled Manufacturing - but pre-registration is required.

Sign up to volunteer at the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament at Traverse City East Middle School on March 20. There are two four-hour shifts (8-noon and noon-4) which will include time keeping, score keeping, and hanging out with the athletes. You are invited to a joint Annual Luncheon Meeting of the Kalkaska Economic Development Corporation, Kalkaska Downtown Development Authority, and the Greater Kalkaska Area Chamber of Commerce at the Kalkaska United Methodist Church. Over lunch, provided by Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, you will celebrate and learn more about small business growth and jobs, downtown vision, the revolving loan fund, and more. Additional topics will include a wireless Internet initiative for the business district, Recovery Act Bond Funds, regional broadband, recognition of Economic Development Corporation investors and donors, Chamber offerings, and recognition of both the Chamber's Business and Citizen of the Year in Kalkaska. Admission is only $20 per person. Pre-registration is required.

Young Professionals - State Theater Volunteer Night

The TCYP's have a regular shift on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the State Theater. Come join the fun by working in concessions or being an usher with your fellow YP's. Volunteers receive free soda and popcorn during their shift as well as a free voucher to a future show. We are typically invited to watch the film during our shifts too.
