Small Business Celebration
Northern Michigan is known as a Mecca for many things — outdoor recreation, shopping, and entertainment are just a few of the exciting reasons to "go north" Yet, our region is also a hub of new ideas, technological advances, and cultural awareness that rivals even the most urban of cities. It's this combination of creativity and innovation that makes this region the perfect foundation on which to build a vibrant business community.

The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of small business to northern Michigan. It's more than the economic backbone of the community — it's the spirit and passion that fuels our culture. This series of events celebrates this creative spirit and entrepreneurial fire.

Community Involvement & Public Affairs

Economic Development

Through its division, the Traverse Bay Economic Development Corporation (TBEDC), the Chamber is a leader in economic development strategy. Working with other partners, the TBEDC has successfully attracted new businesses to "Michigan's Tech Coast" and helped expand the operations of those already here. The TBEDC's initiatives are to create new jobs, retain existing jobs, and expand the tax base. In a manner typical of the way the Chamber views its mission, these economic gains are accomplished while at the same time emphasizing the region's quality of life and protecting its fragile ecosystem.

Government Advocacy
Your Chamber tracks local, state and federal issues that affect Members. Our job is to advocate the business viewpoint on all levels of government so that public policy decisions lead to a healthy business climate and better quality of life. Click here for more information.

Land Use
As a Member, you have a partner dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of natural resources and environment as the basis of a healthy economy. New Designs for Growth is a program that addresses our region's growth. It helps the region prosper in ways that protect the natural resources, scenic beauty, rural landscape, and unique character of each community within the area. Click here for more information.

Leadership
The Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce believes that as the leader in the business community we have an obligation to nurture tomorrow's leaders. Hence, the prestigious Leadership Grand Traverse Program was established in 1985. The Leadership Grand Traverse program's intent is to recruit a group of the area's finest emerging leaders who would represent a broad spectrum of the community. Leadership Grand Traverse provides that conduit to a unique group of individuals whose future impact upon our community is incalculable. Click here for more information.
